Short answer
February is blossom time in Ha Giang: peach and plum flowers open around Tet across the stone plateau, with cold mornings, drizzle and fog. In 2027 Tet falls on 6 February and the official holiday runs from 4 to 10 February — the busiest days of the month, when many services close. Spring festivals follow in many communes after Tet.
Weather
February starts cold and slowly warms. Drizzle and fog are common, especially in the mornings, and frost is still possible on the high plateau early in the month. Bring warm layers and a rain jacket — see what to pack.
Peach and plum blossoms
From late January to the end of March, peach and plum blossoms, then yellow mustard flowers, open one after another across the stone plateau. February — around Tet — is when the pink and white blossoms are most talked about. Good places to look: the villages around Pho Bang, Sung La, Lung Cu, Lao Xa and Sa Phin, and the road from Dong Van to Meo Vac.
Blossom timing shifts by one to three weeks each year with the weather and altitude. Many trees grow beside family homes — enjoy them from the road, and ask before entering a garden or photographing people. More in spring blossom season.

Crowds and booking
February is one of the busiest months because of Tet. Book accommodation and transport early, carry enough cash (ATMs are limited in the highland towns — see money and SIM cards), and keep a buffer day for fog.
