Slow Ha Giang in 6 days

Our favourite way to see Ha Giang: shorter driving days, a night in the Quan Ba valley, a full day around Dong Van and time to rest in Du Gia.

Day by day

  1. 1

    Arrive and rest in Ha Giang Town

    Overnight: Ha Giang Town

    Arrive, sort out cash, SIM and papers, and sleep properly before the mountains.

  2. 2

    Ha Giang Town → Quan Ba

    ~45 km · ~2 h driving · Overnight: Quan Ba valley

    A short drive up to the Heaven Gate, then an afternoon and evening in the valley.

  3. 3

    Quan Ba → Yen Minh → Dong Van

    ~100 km · ~4 h driving · Overnight: Dong Van

    Pine forests, the Tham Ma bends and the Vuong mansion on the way to Dong Van.

    A day around Dong Van

    ~50 km · ~2 h driving · Overnight: Dong Van

    Lung Cu in the morning, the old quarter in the evening — no rushing.

  5. 5

    Dong Van → Ma Pi Leng → Meo Vac → Du Gia

    ~95 km · ~4 h driving · Overnight: Du Gia

    Ma Pi Leng in the morning light, then the green road south to Du Gia.

    Du Gia → Ha Giang Town

    Back to the city with time to rest before your onward journey.

Seasonal & transport variants

Add Hoang Su Phi (7–8 days)

Add one or two days west of Ha Giang town for the Hoang Su Phi rice terraces — best in the water season (around May) or before the harvest (late September – early October).
