Water season in Hoang Su Phi
From late May to early June — roughly two weeks each year — water fills the terraced fields of Hoang Su Phi before planting, and the terraces reflect the sky. The recognised terraces cover about 1,380 ha in 11 communes, including Ban Phung, Ban Luoc, San Sa Ho, Ho Thau, Thong Nguyen and Nam Ty. The terraces are working farmland — admire them from the roads and paths, and never walk on the fields.
Khau Vai love market 2027
The Khau Vai love market in Meo Vac meets only once a year, on the 27th day of the third lunar month — Monday 3 May 2027. It is a local cultural festival, not a show. Book a room early and expect busy roads.

Around the 30 April – 1 May holidays and the Khau Vai market, roads and homestays are busy; book ahead. The rest of May is fairly quiet.
